WHO WE ARE

Helping Irish Hosts
Helping Irish Hosts (HIH) began in 2022 as a spontaneous, people-powered movement - ordinary households in Ireland opening their homes to people who had fled the war in Ukraine.
For three years, we were proud to be part of Ireland's official emergency response. We are now a volunteer-led community of hosts and guests, who learned from doing and who continue to stand for what this moment showed was possible.
Our role now is to champion the values and experience of hosting and to use that lived knowledge to influence how Ireland welcomes, integrates, and includes people seeking safety.
We are still hosts helping hosts and guests helping guests - amplifying voices, strengthening community connection, and showing that when people are supported, hosting works.
Community spirit. Positive change. Welcome. Hope. These are the legacies of those thousands of open doors, and the future we continue to advocate for.
